We are Diana's first tenants - she purchased this house on Squires Ave in Endicott over the summer and immediately turned it over to be rented when she didn't fully review it for damages or issues. We took a chance on her because at our showing she seemed friendly and somewhat inexperienced, which we thought meant she would be apologetic and kind while she figures out the property and everything. BIG MISTAKE. This woman has the hardened distemper of a 70 y/o NYC slumlord. She rapidly showed us her true colors almost immediately into our rental. We had a list of repairs that was documented to be completed since our signing in Sept and STILL have not been completed (shes only now getting to them since weve threatened to withhold our rent). This house is ancient and we believe she had no idea what she was getting into regarding the care of the house. We had no heat for many days in November, and the heat was completely turned off for several days while they figured out how to fix it... and now its been broiling hot all winter. We didn't know we wouldn't have controll of the heat when we signed, and she didnt either. Her plumbing completely destroyed itself and our water was turned off abruptly many different days in December and January. Our shower was virtually unusable for the first 2 months of our lease, then in January, she asked us not to use it because OUR SHOWER WAS DRAINING INTO MY DOWNSTAIRS NEIGHBOR'S BATHTUB. Theres been several leaks in our bathroom that have caused emergency action. Honestly, I could find a way to deal with all of these things if my landlord was kind, respectful, and empathetic of the toll these repairs would have on tenants, but we have been met with nothing but hostility and entitlement the entire time. She has vioated the terms of our lease many times by not giving us notice to enter our unit, and were pretty sure she or her contractor have been in our unit more than once without telling us, which is tresspassing. When we asked for proper notice for repairs, she verbally harassed me over the phone and degraded me like she was scolding a toddler. When we asked for more formal notice about entering our unit, and to try to negotiate a rent reduction to accomodate our inconveniences, she threatened to make us leave our unit and to press charges. I have never had a more tumoltious rental period, we have only been here 5 months and have been bombarded with repairs and disrupted the full term (and our rent isnt cheap), and theres more things in need of repair in our unit then when we signed our lease (our window is literally boarded up right now). This is the worst landlord I've ever had, and I once lived in a place with black mold. If you need any further judge of her character, just check out her rate my professor. I should have before signing my lease. DO NOT RENT.
